There are so many arguments going on at any given moment about the differences between Wicca and Witchcraft. Part of the problem is that everybody has their own definition of those two terms. For myself, I know I'm not Wiccan, because I used to be - it is the easier of the two to define, anyway. But the word Witchcraft is harder to nail down, running the gamut from another word for Wicca, through the pre-Gardnerian Mystery Traditions to a practise or way of life unconnected with any specific religion."

First and foremost, witchcraft is a religion. We are recognized by the government, our clergy can perform marriages, and carry the titles appropriate to our position. We do not worship satan, we are life affirming. Our belief system is earth based.

Once upon a time, a long time ago, there were people who believed in laughter, joy and love. They believed in many deities, but the most important to them was their Great Mother Goddess. They believed in and lived with the powers of Nature. They reveled in the Wind, the Rain, the Snow and the Sunlight.

Why not Buddhist, Christian, Baptist or one of the many other religions? Why did I have to pick a path that I knew was going to be filled with obstructions that society has taken hundreds of years to build?

Many times when in Pagan chat rooms I have seen or used the term Asatru and nearly every time three or four people say "Asatru?? whats that?" So I decided to write an article about it. I am not an expert, but I have spent the better part of two years reading everything I could find about it on the internet (got about thirty sites bookmarked) in the public library, and have started my own collection of books.
